Uva Provincial Council elections:

Nominations from June 17 to 23

Nominations for the Uva Provincial Council Election will be received by the Returning Officers of the respective districts from June 17 till 12 noon on June 23.

Elections Commissioner Dayananda Dissanayake said Leaders of Independent Groups intending to contest at these elections should make deposits, in respect of candidates by 12 noon on June 23. The deposit required is Rs. 2000 per candidate.

Accordingly, 21 members will be elected from the Badulla district while 11 will be elected from the Moneragala district. The total from the Province is 32 members.

The date of election will be announced at the conclusion of the receipt of nominations. Nominations for the Jaffna and Vavuniya Municipal Councils elections will be received at the respective District Secretariats from June 18 till 12.00 noon of June 25.

Leaders of the Independent Groups intending to contest these elections should make deposit before 12 noon on June 24.

The relevant notices will be issued by the Returning Officers of the respective local bodies.
