Sri Lanka in four wicket win
Two fine knocks by former skipper Mahela Jayawardena (43) and opener
Sanath Jayasuriya (29) helped Sri Lanka to beat Bangladesh by four
wickets in their World Cup Twenty20 warm up match played at Trent
Bridge, Nottingham on Tuesday.
After opener Tillekeratne Dilshan was bowled by Mortaza for 17
Jayawardena joined Jayasuriya and put on 37 runs for the second wicket
before Sanath was bowled by Shakib Al Hasan. Mahela was joined by Kumar
Sangakkara and they were involved in a partnership of 39 runs for the
third wicket before Jayawardena departed for a top score of 43.
Earlier Mushfiqur Rahim and Raqibul Hasan rescued Bangladesh with a
70-run sixth wicket partnership to help their team post 151-6 in their
World Twenty20 warm-up against Sri Lanka on Tuesday.
Bangladesh, defeated by Australia at the same Trent Bridge venue the
day before, were 17-2 by the third over with openers Tamim Iqbal, who
took three boundaries off Farveez Maharoof’s first over, and Junaid
Siddique back in the pavilion.
Raqibul finished unbeaten on 38 while Mushfiqur hit 34 from 28 balls
while Mashrafe Mortaza struck two straight fours to get the score above
150.
