Noble national way of gratifying soldiers

It has been acclaimed nationally as well as Internationally that the Sri Lanka Army is most disciplined and dignified one constituted with gallant soldiers committed for the noble task they are expected to render.

If not for their patriotism, inherent noble qualities of a noble Nation and their dedication to save the Motherland, the international community (IC) supported LTTE which is portrayed as most ruthless and invincible terrorist outfit would not have been defeated in such a short period of only two and a half years.

This noble quality of unadulterated love to the Mother country was spontaneously demonstrated by the President, the Commander in Chief of the Nation as well when he worshipped the Motherland on stepping back to it from abroad on hearing the Motherland has been saved from the terrorists.

The Mother Sri Lanka would not have received back about one third of her land forcibly grabbed and occupied by IC supported LTTE if not for the bravery and commitment of the soldiers. It will go down history in golden letters definitely.

They have rendered their duty and now it is time to recognise it, appreciate it and gratify them. In gratifying the noble patriotic soldiers one important thing that should be noted sincerely and affectionately is that most of these soldiers do not just have a plot of land of at least six feet in this Motherland which they saved even to bury their corps. The heart breaking truth is that there was no place for the parents to keep the body of a dead soldier who sacrified his life to save the Motherland. This is true for most of the soldiers. The injured disabled are no exceptions.

Therefore the most noble way of gratifying the soldiers and their families who saved the Motherland is to give land from the area they have taken back from the IC supported LTTE who were forcibly occupying it which would have been lost for ever for the Motherland. Thus they also saved the present generation upon which the future generation would have cursed.

The ideal way of doing it is to locate them in groups under thousands of Wewas that had been destroyed and abandoned.

In Sri Lanka there was no Wewa without a Gama-village and No Gama without a Wewa.

This will have excellent effects. There will be a Gama Neguma in real sense. The Wewas which were destroyed by the predecessors of the present IC to keep Sri Lanka dependent on them and to exploit the natural resources would be renovated and rehabilitated and the villages would be reawakened.

The paddy land under each of these Wewas will be cultivated thereby the IC created food crisis could also be avoided as marvellous as saving the Motherland from the IC supported terrorists.

This could well be done under 'Dahasak Wew' program of Mahinda Chintanaya. As a result in a couple of years 'Nilla Pirunu Ratak' of the Mahinda Chintanaya will be a reality and the reawakening of Glorious Ruhuna will not be a mere dream as expected by enemies of the Motherland.

This we believe is the Noble National way of gratifying the soldiers who saved the Motherland.

Miliband and Foreign Ministers of EU

With the recent escalation of fighting in the North between the Sri Lankan Forces and the LTTE, I have been watching foreign News Channels (BBC/CNN/AI Jazeera) and very interestingly reading all the newspapers to keep myself updated of what was going on. It is now known that this deadly war has come to an end with the annihilation of the barbaric terrorist which has been the cancer of our society for over 3 decades.

I feel helpless, sad and frustrated when I learn how these Foreign Ministers led by Miliband tried to stop us achieving this peace all Sri Lankans wanted for so long by 'bulldozing' themselves and trying to pressurize the Sri Lankan Government to stop the final stages of the war by calling it a catastrophe.

I am confident that Miliband would have been in his early stages of childhood when we first encountered the menace of the LTTE. Miliband, I would like to ask you did you know all what happened in this war in the past to rush to Sri Lanka and pass judgment. Has anyone told you of the Central Bank bomb in Colombo which killed many people from all communities? Did you know that the LTTE killed scores of villagers in Kent & Dollar Farms, Aranthalawa, killing of pilgrims in Anuradhapura, killing of Muslims at prayer in the East to name a few. I presume you chose to ignore or not know all these as you would have been busy playing with your schoolmates when innocent people were getting killed in this Island, during that dark period.

What did your British Government and your EU friends do when this country was struggling to overcome the terror, during that time.

Did you and your EU Counterparts bring pressure when Iraq was attacked (Gulf war)? What about the war in Afghanistan? What have you so called 'Foreign Ministers' done on these fronts? I guess, you cannot do anything in those countries as your hands are full of blood.

Please Mr. Miliband and your bunch of 'EU Foreign Ministers' - You must use the same yard stick for all, if you want people to listen to you. We are not a country that you can bully and meddle around any more. So - please "Shut up and mind your own business".

I also hear in foreign news channels that EU Foreign Ministers are calling for a probe on war crimes in Sri Lanka. You must inform the Sri Lankan Government fast, so that they can preserve the skeletons of Prabhakaran, Pottu Amman and others to hand them over to the Hague.

The USA experienced what terrorism is all about with the unfortunate 9/11. Since your country has not so far experienced this, you can go globe trotting (uninvited) and try to make a noise. We never asked you and the EU to offer asylum to LTTE cadres in your countries. It is a matter of time before you experience the brutality of the remaining LTTE cadres now domiciled in your countries.

We live amongst our Tamil brothers in most part of the country in harmony. Leave us alone to build our country from now on as all of us deserve peace.

Terrorism does not pay

In 1999, I pointed out that the hard-earned Tamil diaspora money was going down the drain, with no benefit to anyone.

Today in retrospect, the diaspora will agree with me that terrorists are only sales representatives to arms producing countries, demonstrating the power of new weapons, but on somebody else's account.

A Tribute to our President - An extra - ordinary Surgeon

Hail our dear President, an extra-ordinary Surgeon,
who removed the cancer that
had plagued Mother Lanka,
bringing only death and misery for 30 long years.
Hail our Defence Secretary, Gotabhaya Rajapaksa,
the three Service Commanders and
the Police Chief
for assisting our President to perform
this massive operation,
despite numerous international threats
and obstacles.
Hail the thousands and thousands of brave soldiers,
who valiantly came forward to help
our clever Surgeon
in this most important and gigantic operation,
which would be duly recorded
in the history of our great nation in letters of gold.
Now, lets rally round our courageous
and fearless President,
to bring about lasting peace and
happiness to Sri Lanka.
Let not extremists and fanatics prevent all races
being given equal status in a united,
peaceful and prosperous Sri Lanka.

Bernard de Silva - Jaela
