Minister slams biased media
The media were out of control during the last few
days. International media institutions specially, had been reporting
totally biased information to tarnish the image of a sovereign
nation, said Defence Affairs spokesman Minister Keheliya Rambukwella.
President calls for lower interest rates
President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday called for
the interest rates to be further brought down in the wake of the
various incentives granted by the Government to stimulate the
economy and that this benefit should be passed onto small and medium
scale investors as well as directly to the public.
Navy foils LTTE attempts to breach defences:
17 LTTE boats destroyed, over hundred cadres killed
17 LTTE boats were destroyed including several
suicide boats and over 100 sea Tiger cadres were killed in the seas
off Mullaitivu by naval troops during the last few weeks, said Navy
spokesman Commander Mahesh Karunaratne.
