A ‘Speck of Dawn’ from Lochana
Lochana Ranasinghe, 3, the youngest student of the Academy of the
Ceylon Society of Arts will present, ‘Speck of Dawn’, her first
individual exhibition at the West wing of the National Art Gallery,
Colombo 7, on May 15 and 16, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The opening ceremony of the event will be held on May 14 at 6 p.m.
Emeritus Professor of Psychology of the University of Colombo and the
National Authority on Tobacco and Alcohol Prof. Carlo Fonseka will grace
the occasion as chief guest.
Lochana is a versatile student who had shown her skills towards
aesthetics early in life. She had been a member of the Ceylon Society of
Arts since she was two, making her mark as their youngest student and
also the youngest to hold a public solo exhibition.
She enjoys mixing bright shades together and each of her brush
strokes brings out a creation which is unique to the young lass.
History, Environmental science and Biology are some of her favourite
subjects besides art. Her goal is to carve a niche for herself as an
artiste with new and diverse creations.
She is the daughter of journalist and human resource development
trainee Daminda Jeewan Ranasinghe and her mother is a former teacher,
She had brushed up her skills under the guidance of principal
Kalapathi Pulasthi Ediriweera, Jayantha Tisera, Danny Wijesiriwardena
and many others.
