Nations Trust Eliyakande Hill Climb tomorrow

The Eliyakanda Hill Climb organised by the Southern Motor Sports Club and sponsored by Nations Trust Bank and Airtel will be conducted tomorrow in Matar commencing 8.30p.m.

The organisers who also planned to conduct Beach Super Cross for Motor ycles had to cancel this event as few funerals of victims who died in the bomb blast in Godapitiya, Akuressa are to take place on Saturday.

According to organisers this event is sponsored by the Nations Trust Bank for the second successive year. The days events comprise of 16 Motor cycle events and 19 motor cars and jeep events.

Racing experts can flex their muscles at the event considered to be one of the most challenging and competitive hill climbs in the country. Nations Trust Bank has a significant presence in Galle and Matara and the Bank’s sponsorship of this event is certain to be of importance to their customers in the region.

In the Car events all leading drivers in the Super car category Aravinda Premadasa, Pasindu Pieris, Dinesh Jayawardena, Nishan Weerasooriya, Shantha Suraweera, Dinesh Deheragoda are battling it out to reign supreme on this day.

Meanwhile in other categories drivers who have made a name in Hill Climbs Harsha Panduwawala, Ishraq Wahab, W.M.K. Wickramasinghe, Mahen Madugalle, Dhammika Pieris, Darin Weerasinghe, Abeeth Danagala, Dinesh Senanayake, Balasingham, Prasanna de Alwis, Rohan Fonseka, Paraneshwaran, Upulwan Serasinghe, Anil Jayakody, Lanil Galaboda, Kumar Samarasinghe, Nigel Perera, Mahinda Premaratne, Tharindu Lokuge, Janaka Dias, Sanjaya Sedara Senarath, Missaka Naveen, Jagath Munasinghe, Chamika Ranathunga and lady divers Lady Drivers Shehara Jayawardena, Janaki Allahapperuma, Chinthika Lalani are expected compete.

In the Motor cycles events all eyes will be focussed on Gayan Sandaruwan who is the champion for the last two years. Ithers who are expected to pose a big threat to sandaruwan are Indika Gurusinghe, Tuan Ossen, Ananda Wedisinghe, Dasanayakes, Ramal Pathiratne, Safraz Junaid, Sarath Kumarasinghe, Maduranga Caldera and and many new comers for the event. There is an event for the Kids too..
