Court orders presence of OIC

Colombo High Court Judge W.A.T. Ratnayake yesterday issued notice on the Officer In Charge of the Criminal Investigation Department to appear before Court on April 29 in person in connection with the case regarding the Katunayake Air Force base attack.

The Court issued notice on the OIC of the CID after the Court observed that CID officials were not present in Court when the case was taken up. State Counsel Dileepa Pieris submitted that the it was pathetic that the CID officials were absent in the House when the case was taken up.

The Attorney General filed indictments against five persons for conspiring at Vavunia and Negombo between October 1, 2000 and July 24, 2001 to attack the Katunayake Ari Force Base and attacking it on July 24, 2001.
