SLAF airlifts 20,000 food parcels for IDPs

The Sri Lanka Air Force said that they had airlifted 20,000 food parcels to an Army welfare Centre located at Paranthan yesterday, to be distributed among displaced civilians arriving from the uncleared areas of Mullaitivu.

Air Force spokesman Wing Commander, Janaka Nanayakkara said that, MI -17 helicopters had been used to airlift the food parcels consisting cooked food, to be distributed among IDP’s as soon as they arrive in cleared areas.

He further said that this exercise would continue on a daily basis to meet the needs of a large number of IDP’s, who have been arriving from uncleared in the last few days.
