Electric fence to be renovated

The electric fence which was built covering the Wasgamuwa Sanctuary located in the boundary of Matale district is now in dilapidated state and is bringing the threat of the wild elephants again and it would cause difficulties to the public in adjacent villages.

Therefore the Wild Life Conservation Department has taken steps to renovate this fence again. It is lying from the right bank of Mahaweli river to the Hibitiyakada area. After completing this fence, over 20 villages in the area will benefit from it.
