New museum for Ramba viharaya

Southern Province Chief Minister Shan Vijaya Lal De Silva has taken
steps to set up a museum at historical Ramba Viharaya at Ambalantota to
protect the archaeological objects unearthed from the viharaya premises.
Rs. 10 lkhas has been set aside for the construction of t he first
phase.
It is said that when Magama kingdom came into existence the Ramba
viharaya came under the purview of Magama Kingdom. The stone
inscriptions say that the Pathra Dhatu and Tooth relic of the Buddha
have been at this sylvan shrine in ancient days.
