Minor explosion in Fort (2nd lead)

Police Spokesman SSP Ranjith Gunasekara said that the bomb was placed under a parked Litace van. SSP Gunasekara added that 250 grams of explosives may have been used. The Police are continuing further investigations.

Adequate food supplies for Wanni

UN representatives allowed to accompany convoys to witness distribution:

COLOMBO: Dismissing certain reports about a shortage of food and other essential items in the Wanni, Essential Services Commissioner S.B.Divarathna said yesterday that there was enough stocks for six months stored in Vavuniya, and these would be delivered continuously to Mullaitivu and Kilinochchi.

Tea exports set for year record

Sri Lanka’s tea exports rose more than 40 per cent in the first eight months of the year and are on track to earn a record 1.4 billion dollars this year, the Tea Board said Thursday.
