COLOMBO: In an age where knowledge is power, news and current affairs are gaining in demand and speed.

Dialog GSM, Sri Lanka’s leading telecommunications service provider partnered with Daily News in a bid to offer all Dialog customers tomorrow’s Daily News Headlines today through the Dialog GSM Breaking News service.

Currently Daily News enjoys the highest circulation in the country and has strong penetration in the urban and rural marketing alike.

While the Breaking News service allows over four million Sri Lankans access to news and current affairs as it happens it is also revolutionizing the field of reporting by adding a completely new mass medium which is not only at the consumers’ finger tips but also operates in real time in disseminating information.

Speaking on this partnership further Bandula Padmakumara, Chairman ANCL said “In today’s context it has become a topical necessity to know and be aware of the latest developments around the country.

At ANCL we are constantly looking for new ways of reporting news in a manner that satisfies our readers’ need for news as it happens. We are indeed happy to partner with Dialog Telekom in this initiative to bring our readers real time news and current affairs, while also enriching the Dialog GSM Breaking News service.”

Group Chief Marketing Officer, Dialog Telekom Nushad Perera, said “With the Ceylon Daily News getting on board with the Dialog Breaking News service we have further complemented our balanced approach to providing news on the phone, as it happens, when it happens.

ANCL is one of Sri Lanka’s most trusted and reliable news houses, hence this partnership is invaluable.” Dialog customers can register for this service via SMS by simply typing ACT DNEWS and sending the message to the 678 short code. Thereafter news headlines can be accessed by customers in their preferred method via SMS or IVR.

In order to access the headlines via IVR customers can dial 555 to access Breaking News in Sinhala or Tamil, or dial 777 to access Breaking News in English.
