SAARC should declare 2009:
‘Year to fight Terrorism’
The stage is now set for the historic fifteenth
SAARC Summit in Colombo. A tight security blanket is thrown around
the city to ensure the safety of all eight leaders representing the
respective nations. The security of all leaders is of paramount
importance to the host country.
Realising SAARC’s true potential
The 15th SAARC Summit is taking on the
proportions of an MGM production. Let us all hope that President
Rajapaksa and his advisors undertake a reality check and use this
opportunity for him to go down in history as the SAARC Chairman who
transformed the organisation from a pious talk shop that does not
comply with conventions and agreements
SAARC - ‘poor’ countries get together, but
How poor are we, really?
The further you go into the past the lesser your
chances of meeting the word poverty. This may come as a surprise to
you, but that’s because you and I have been taught to look at the
past as a dark, gloomy, dismal and altogether a primitive era
compared to the state of enlightenment we are living in now.
