SAARC facelift for Colombo

The work of giving a facelift to Colombo City prior to the 15th the
SAARC summit has reached its final stage.
The total cost for the project is Rs.274 million which has to be
budgeted within CMC allocations. CMC allocations are mainly collected
through various taxes, renting buildings and lands and charges on
hoarders.
According to the information of CMC the additional funds which is
required for special preparedness such as SAARC summit will be availed
from allocations of other projects which have not been implemented so
far.
The CMC Mayor Mohamed Imythias was on an inspection tour to observe
the work in progress. The Mayor was accompanied by CMC Deputy
Commissioner ( Engineering Services ) Visaka Dias and Director
(Engineering Services ) AMCL Fazal.
According to the Mayor Mohamed Imythias the project is to be
completed before tomorrow. The project is being specially implemented in
areas where SAARC leaders are expected to visit and some ongoing
projects also will be completed in line.
City parks namely Vihara Maha Devi Garden was also under the Mayor’s
special supervision.
