Record price at tea auction

An all time record price was obtained at the Colombo Tea Auction on July 1 and 2 for a line of Western Medium Pekoe Grade at Rs. 585 per kg.

This tea was manufactured by Orange Field Tea Factory. This factory in Gampola is owned by Sebastian Retty. The buyer was George Steuarts Teas Ltd and the selling broker was Mercantile Produce Brokers (Pvt) Ltd.

For the first time, Eco Uniwear Private limited will be exporting apparels to India.

The company has invested Rs. 43 million and has acquired the Galgamuwa apparel factory, owned by Tri-Star to launch these operations.

Eco Uniwear is already exporting their products under 'brand' to USA and the European market.

Company hopes to exploit the Indo-Lanka Free Trade Agreement of this venture and have already signed an agreement with the Board of Investment.

The project will generate over 350 employment opportunities.
