Army reiterates stance over Dr. D. Nesiah

Gomin Dayasri, Counsel for the Army Commander at the proceedings of the Commission of Inquiry on Human Rights, has written to President Mahinda Rajapaksa on the matter of Dr D. Nesiah functioning as a Commissioner while remaining a member of the Centre for Policy Alternatives, a "party" to the Commission.

Blast at Railway bridge:

Police probe if woman's body had link to explosion

An explosion occurred in the pedestrian section of the Railway bridge across Mahaweli Ganga at Nawayalatenna Katugastota on the Matale line around 11.45 p.m. on Tuesday long after the last train passed the bridge at 8.15 p.m.
