Air Force fighter jet and MI24 helicopters conducted sorties
targeting an LTTE operation centre and a gathering point in
Parappakadathan and Alankulam, Mannar yesterday.
Air Force Wing Commander Andrew Wijesuriya said supporting the ground
troops engaged in Wanni liberation, the Air Force MI24 helicopters
carried out an air strike targeting the LTTE operation centre.
“The target was located two km North of Parappakadathan Security
Forces FDL’s in Mannar and the air raid was conducted at around 10.15
a.m”, he added. Separately, the Air Force kfir jets pounded an LTTE
gathering point yesterday at around 1.15 p.m. in Alankulam.
“The target was located one kilometre from the Security Forces FDL’s
in Alankulam, Mannar”, Wing Commander Wijesuriya said.
“Both attacks were successfully carried out by the Air Force fighters
following ground intelligence information and based on air surveillance.
The targets were precise and accurate”, he added. |
