Sinhala and Tamil New Year spectacular cultural showcase - Canadian

Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper in a special message on the
occasion of Sinhala and Tamil New Year celebrations organised by the Sri
Lanka-Canada Association in Ottawa commended its efforts in fostering
unity within the community.
The Canadian Prime Minister lauded the Association in organising this
special celebration and for its unwavering commitment to fostering unity
within the communities.

MacHarb MP, Paul Dewar representing Ottawa Central and Co-Chair of the
Canadian Friends of Sri Lanka Group George Grande were among the
distinguished guests.
A large number of Canadians of Sri Lankan origin representing Sinhala,
Tamil, Muslim, Malay and Burgher communities were seen celebrating the
New Year.
The High Commissioner and the other speakers focused their New Year
messages on reconciliation, unity and harmony among the various ethnic
groups in Sri Lanka and wished prosperity and peace for the people of
Sri Lanka.
The event was organised by the Sri Lanka-Canada Association of
Ottawa. Association’s President Susantha Mohottaala also spoke. |
