IRB online will be updated on a daily basis:
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has placed online its Information
Resource Base (IRB) Collection of documents, newspaper and magazine
articles from across the world relating to the LTTE and international
terrorism.
This can be accessed through the website of the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs, www.slmfa.gov.lk, states a Foreign Ministry press release.
Part of a more extensive physical collection of clippings from over
the years in areas of relevance to Sri Lankan affairs and foreign
policy, the IRB collection presently placed online amounts to over 600
key articles written on the atrocities of the LTTE, its international
network and international action against the LTTE.
The digitalisation of the IRB of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has
been completed by the Public Communication Division in collaboration
with the University of Colombo School of Computing (UCSC).
Each article is categorised, cross referenced and tagged with
keywords for easy customizable searches.
They will be accessible through the Internet with on-line viewing of
the stored articles.
The majority of components of software are developed with Open Source
technologies such as MySQL for database and PHP for on-line content.
The IRB online will be updated on a daily basis, enabling users to
stay current with developments relating to the areas covered. |
