Jetwing Hotels will enter into a contract with a Kerala Belers
Limited to manage a hotel in Kerala. The investment will be US four
million dollars to convert an existing warehouse into a hotel, Jetwing
Deputy Chairman Hiran Cooray said.
He said that once this new hotel is being setup they are looking for
more other properties in India to make their presence felt in the huge
Indian market. Currently Sri Lanka tourism going through a crisis period
and taking part in ITB and other international exhibitions would help to
promote tourism and to build new contacts.
This will enable for the industry in the long term perspective, he
said. Cooray the President of the Tourist Hotels Association of Sri
Lanka said that Sri Lanka presence in ITB has given a lot of hopes and
window of opportunities to build the confidence of our business partners
including tour operators, hoteliers and other stakeholders.
Further the presence here in ITB is a some kind of hope for the
industry, which has given an impression to foreign tour sectors that Sri
Lanka is a safe tourist destination in the world, Cooray said.
“Today the industry runs hopefully and many of foreign tourists have
positively reacted on safe destination call and if the government is
able to give a durable solution to ethnic conflict we could develop the
country singularly through tourism in Sri Lanka, Cooray,” said.
