Dialog overall shuttle champs

BADMINTON: Dialog Telecom emerged as the overall champs at the Annual
Inter-Operator Badminton Tournament which took place at the Royal
Collage Sports Complex over the weekend.
Dialog were the women’s team-champs and the runner-up in the men’s
division where eight teams from Telecommunications Operators in Sri
Lanka marked their participation. Mobitel became the champions in the
men’s team event.
In the Open Men’s doubles final, a brilliant show was on as the
sister teams Mobitel and SLT clashed with their best contenders. Janaka
Mendis and Thivanka Ranawaka met the best SLT shuttlers Chamara Perera
and Luxman Joseph and overcame them to clinch the championship.
In the open women’s doubles Dialog dominated the courts as two teams
from Dialog met in the final. Janina Merza and Shalika Galawela showed
their brilliance over Ruvini Jasenthuliyana and Rukshani Amaratunga to
be victors.
Dialog had presented a very strong side as they were among the best
in all forms of the game. But in the open mixed doubles, the Dialog team
comprised of Suneth Gamage and Shalika Galawela they were let down in
front of the ambitious SLT shuttlers, Chamara Perera and Uresha Soysa
who emerged champions.
TRCSL (the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka)
organized this tournament along with the representatives from all
participating Telecommunication Companies for the second time.
