Dialog overall shuttle champs

BADMINTON: Dialog Telecom emerged as the overall champs at the Annual Inter-Operator Badminton Tournament which took place at the Royal Collage Sports Complex over the weekend.

Dialog were the women’s team-champs and the runner-up in the men’s division where eight teams from Telecommunications Operators in Sri Lanka marked their participation. Mobitel became the champions in the men’s team event.

In the Open Men’s doubles final, a brilliant show was on as the sister teams Mobitel and SLT clashed with their best contenders. Janaka Mendis and Thivanka Ranawaka met the best SLT shuttlers Chamara Perera and Luxman Joseph and overcame them to clinch the championship.

In the open women’s doubles Dialog dominated the courts as two teams from Dialog met in the final. Janina Merza and Shalika Galawela showed their brilliance over Ruvini Jasenthuliyana and Rukshani Amaratunga to be victors.

Dialog had presented a very strong side as they were among the best in all forms of the game. But in the open mixed doubles, the Dialog team comprised of Suneth Gamage and Shalika Galawela they were let down in front of the ambitious SLT shuttlers, Chamara Perera and Uresha Soysa who emerged champions.
