Brig. V.U.B. Nanayakkara USP Hdmc - new Military Spokesman
COLOMBO: New Military Spokesman and Director, Directorate of Media,
Sri Lanka Army Headquarters, Brigadier V.U.B. Nanayakkara USP Hdmc
assumed duties yesterday at his office after a brief ceremony.
Brigadier V.U.B. Nanayakkara was the Commander Area Headquarters,
Kandy before he took over as Military Spokesman cum Director,
Directorate of Media Army Headquarters.
Enlisted to the Sri Lanka army as an Officer Cadet of the Intake 15
on February 5, 1981 after his studies at Colombo Royal College, he
received training at the Sri Lanka Military Academy, Diyathalawa and was
commissioned to the Sri Lanka Engineers (SLE).
Brigadier Nanayakkara has also served as Director, Directorate of
Psychological Operations, Centre Commandant Regimental Headquarters, Sri
Lanka Engineers, Brigade Commander, Muhamale (552 Brigade) Brigade
Commander, Paryanakulam (214 Brigade) and many other prestigious
appointments.
Brigadier Nanayakkara is the successor to Brigadier Prasad
Samarasinghe who will assume duties as the Military Advisor at the Sri
Lanka High Commission, United Kingdom shortly.
Director General MCNS Lakshman Hulugalle, Additional Secretary
Ministry of defence, Public Security, Law and Order B.K.U.A.
Wickramasinghe, Brig. Prasad Samarasinghe, outgoing Military Spokesman,
Colonel Weerawardana Senior Military Co-ordinator, MCNS and the staff of
the MCNS participated at the ceremony.
