Protective measures for Muslim Community commended
COLOMBO: Measures taken by the Government to stabilise the Security
of the Muslim Community came in for special praise from the community?s
delegates at a conference held at the Defence Ministry complex
yesterday.
A communique issued by the Media Centre for National Security said
the conference was held at the request of Defence Secretary Gotabhaya
Rajapaksa to discuss measures to strengthen security of the Muslim
Community. Proposals by various parties were discussed at this
conference.
Muslim delegates attending the conference who expressed their
confidence in the Government led by President Mahinda Rajapaksa also
lauded Presidential Senior Advisor Basil Rajapaksa?s dedication towards
providing security to the Muslim population in the East and solve their
problems as earlier promised by him.
IGP Victor Perera described the measures adopted by Security Forces
and Police to ensure national security.
Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, Presidential Senior Advisor
Basil Rajapaksa, Western Province Governor Alavi Mowlana, Deputy
Minister Faizer Musthapa, Deputy Minister Myown Musthapa and other
delegates of the Muslim community attended the conference.
