TRADE: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the
Department of Commerce, Yunnan Province, China and the Federation of
Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL) to promote
bilateral trade between Sri Lanka and Yunnan Province.
In addition it would also facilitate Sri Lankan business people to
participate at the Chinese Export and Import Trade Fair, Kunming.
Deputy Director General of Commerce, Yunnan Province Li Jiming who
heads the five member delegation said this year over 40 foreign
countries would be participating for this event.
“The Chinese are very keen to do business with Sri Lanka as it the
gateway to enter the Indian market,” he said. This would give the
opportunity for Lankan companies to come to joint ventures with Chinese
companies.
The visit of the five member Chinese trade delegation is a direct
result of the promotional activities carried out by the Sri Lankan Trade
Delegation led by FCCISL that accompanied the Presidential entourage to
China recently.
This MoU appoints FCCISL for next six years as the Sri Lankan
Authority who will act as the co-organiser and collaborator in Sri Lanka
to coordinate all matters pertaining to Sri Lankan business people
participating in the Kunming Fair.
