COLOMBO: The Chairman KIK Group of Companies, Engineer Lalith
Kahatapitiya was conferred the prestigious (DTM) Distinguished Toast
Master Award from Toastmasters International USA. He won the Sri Lankan
Entrepreneur of the Year Award previously.
This is the highest recognition awarded by the Toastmasters
International to a member who completes the required speech and
leadership projects and manuals. It is for the first time that a member
of Sri Lankan club received this award although the Toastmaster Movement
has been in Sri Lanka for more than twenty years.
Asked whether toastmasters training in anyway helped him to get Sri
Lankan Entrepreneur award by the Federation of Chamber of Commerce Sri
Lanka he replied that certainly it did. "When it comes to engineers it
is important because most of the development projects are steered by the
Engineers, Kahatapitiya said.
He invited all professionals and young people to join the
toastmasters club and experience the improvement of personality.
Kahatapitiya first joined the club in 2003 and has initiated the Free
Trade Zone toastmasters club and supported to start University of
Moratuwa and Institute of Engineers Toastmaster clubs in numerous ways. |
