The little inn is owned and managed by Leslie Dassanayake, a veteran
hotelier who has been in the hospitality scene for over 24 years.
The little inn is very popular among honeymooners who arrive in
'Little England' to spend that 'once-in-a-life-time' away from the
everyday dull routine.
The inn is located in close proximity to the Nuwara Eliya town and
the Victoria Park at the Dharmapala Circle off Badulla Road on Glenfall
MAJESTIC: A well-appointed bedroom
The large bedrooms are furnished to retain that cosy comfort with a
television and a wood fireplace in real English style.
Flooring in all rooms is of wood. Toilets are attached with hot water
facility and the restaurant serves both eastern and western dishes
turned out by master chef Anton Godfrey who has 13 years experience in
the catering business which includes a two-year stint in Dubai.
The little inn is also a popular venue for weddings and other
intimate functions. "We undertake such functions only after taking into
consideration the convenience of our in-house guests. Sometimes we get
small groups from Colombo who need more than the number of rooms
Then we find accommodation for them at other similar places," Leslie
said. However they all come to Glenfall in the evenings for a
get-together and a sing-song session in the vast lawns that could
accommodate a large number of visitors.
The inn has also won many awards at the April Blooms flower
competition organised by the Nuwara Eliya Municipal Council. Leslie said
that unlike the notion that Nuwara Eliya was a seasonal holiday
destination, the hill country could be visited throughout the year.
"When in the hill country, one should be able to experience the cool
climes, see the cascading waterfalls, and the blue mountains in all
their majesty," Leslie said.
He said that the inn undertakes to organise safari tours to places of
tourist interest in and around Nuwara Eliya. - LJ
