A people's victory - Zurfick

Muslim Organiser for Colombo South Dr. M. G. M. S. Zurfick, Sri Lankan businessman in Japan, said that the victory of President Mahinda Rajapakse is a clear victory for the people of Sri Lanka.

He expressed his profound gratitude to the Muslims of Sri Lanka for having faith in President Mahinda Rajapakse and voting him into power.

"I as the Acting Leader of the Muslim National Alliance and the Democratic Unity Alliance and the Muslim Organiser for Colombo South at the recently concluded Presidential Elections, is very happy to note that our tireless efforts have not failed.

The Muslims in the Colombo District have shown their gratitude to President Mahinda Rajapakse.

President Mahinda Rajapakse was the only Sinhala Buddhist to become the President of the Sri Lanka Palestinian Liberation Society When late Prime Minister Sirimavo Bandaranaike became the first woman Prime Minister in the world sending the Israel Representative in Sri Lanka back, it was President J. R. Jayewardene who invited them back to the country after he came into power, Zurfick emphasised.

The campaign carried on by the UNP media and the private TV channels was proved false, he said.

Now the people of the South have gifted him 67 per cent of the voters to become the fifth President of Sri Lanka on his 60th birthday, Zurfick said.
