MY ASSOCIATION with the Asia Foundation goes back to 1956 when, as a 17 year old high school student in Kandy having written an essay on 'The World We Want', I was lucky to win a nationwide competition to be my country's representative at the World Youth Forum organised by the New York Herald Tribune newspaper.
