Sukitha wins silver medal at South Asian junior TT tourney
Sukitha Wickramanayake of Dharmaraja College, Kandy has brought
honour and fame to his motherland by winning the silver medal in the
under 15 boys singles event at the South Asian Junior Table Tennis
Championship - 2005 which was held in New Delhi - India recently.
He was also the youngest member of the Sri Lanka under 18 boys team
which won a silver medal at the same tournament. He also won a bronze
medal in the under 18 boys double event with his partner Gihan Liyanage.
Sukitha was fortunate to represent Sri Lanka as the youngest member
of the under 18 boys team which won the 3rd place at the Asian School
Table Tennis team Championships - 2005 which was held in Malakka,
Malaysia. This tournament is held once in every four years.
Apart from these international achievements. Sukitha has won many all
Island Championship locally including under 11 boys. Junior National
Championships - 2002 and under 13 boys Junior National Championship -
2004. He was the under 17 boys champion at the recently concluded
"Butterfly" all Island (ranking) Championship.
