Late Minister was a fine gentleman par excellence - Finance Minister Dr. Sarath Amunugama

Finance Minister Dr. Sarath Amunugama condemned the assassination of his school-time friend and colleague Lakshman Kadirgamar as a gruesome and heinous act of terror.

Dr. Amunugama said the late Foreign Minister had proved his prowess as a scholar, sportsman, legal luminary, orator, career diplomat and above all a fine gentleman par excellence, who upheld the beauty of ethnic diversity to its word.

During his 11 year tenure as a politician and the Sri Lankan Foreign Minister, he contributed immensely to boost the Sri Lankan image which had been tarnished severely abroad by events such as the 'Black July'. He was the most articulate advocate of Sri Lanka's interests.

The government will utilise all resources at its disposal to bring to book the perpetrators of this murder.
