Govt, LTTE sign P-TOMS

 

THE Government yesterday signed the Post-Tsunami Operational Management Structure (P-TOMS) document. The document was sent through Norwegian facilitators to Kilinochchi to get the LTTE's signature. Mahaweli and River Basin Minister and Leader of the House Maithreepala Sirisena disclosed to the media that the MoU for the establishment the P-TOMS was signed after it was presented in Parliament.

THE Tsunami Relief Council (TRC) or Post-Tsunami Operational Management (P-TOMS) signed yesterday is a simple administrative arrangement to provide humanitarian relief to those affected by the tsunami, President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga said.

THE parties in the peace process have entered into an agreement of great importance, said Norwegian Foreign Minister Jan Petersen commenting on the establishment by the Sri Lankan Government and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) of a joint management structure for the effective and equitable reconstruction and development of the tsunami-affected areas in the north and east of Sri Lanka.

Passenger traffic rise between Lanka-Singapore


Passenger traffic between Sri Lanka and Singapore are on the rise which saw over 260,500 passenger movements between the two countries. In 2004, Changi Airport handled more than 326,600 passenger movements between Colombo and Singapore.

ICC biomechanical expert says.....

Murali was right


THE International Cricket Council's (ICC) biomechanical expert Dr. Paul Hurrion said that Sri Lanka spin king Muttiah Muralitharan was right in going for technology to clear his name after he was called for chucking in a Test match in Australia. "Technology was first brought in when Murali became the first big case in 1995/96 where people were suspect of his particular bowling action," said Dr Hurrion in an exclusive interview with the 'Daily News.'
