Weerakoon takes six as Windies 'A' tumble


BRC's left-arm spinner Sajeewa Weerakoon kept faith with the selectors who opted to play him ahead of leg-spinner Kaushal Lokuarachchi by grabbing six wickets for 62 runs to produce his best international performance at the Rangiri Dambulla Stadium here today. Weerakoon started an astonishing West Indies 'A' batting collapse in the last over before tea by bowling skipper Daren Ganga behind his legs for 99.

THE 300-day official countdown of the 10th Asian Games in Sri Lanka next year got off to a colourful start with an eye-catching ceremony at the Sugathadasa Stadium, Colombo yesterday. Many foreign delegates and sports officials of the eight participating countries were among the invitees for the colourful evening ceremony with services bands in attendance.
