Route permit cancelled

THE National Transport Commission (NTC) has cancelled the permit issued to the private bus HT - 2520 to transport passengers with immediate effect as the investigation conducted by the Commission has found the bus owner has violated the conditions laid down by the Commission when issuing the permit, a media release by the Commission said.

The media release issued under the signature of M.A.Geoffri, Acting Director General of the NTC, said that the bus in question had been the cause of ruthless accident on April 27, while plying from Wewala to Colombo at Yangalmodera. The bus had passed through the railway crossings violating norms of public highways.

The NTC has sought the advice of the Attorney General to institute legal action against those responsible for the tragedy, the release added.
