Injured PLOTE member critical

A PLOTE member shot by a group of suspected LTTE cadres near the Boo Oya Army checkpoint on the Vavuniya-Kandy Road on Thursday night was admitted to the Colombo National Hospital in a critical condition. Saranai Pakyanathan, 38, had been travelling in a double cab at the time of the incident.

He is said to have joined the PLOTE after decamping from the LTTE ranks recently. The suspected LTTE cadres had escaped in a white dolphin van after the shooting.

Vavuniya Police is investigating.
