Do not fall prey to false propaganda - PM

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse has appealed to the public not to get deceived by false propaganda spread by some disgruntled elements that the Government would not allow the re-building of the places of religious worship where they were located prior to the tsunami disaster.

This is a downright falsehood and the public should not get carried away by such false campaigns, a statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office, Colombo

The statement further said that the government after consulting the leaders of other political parties has decided how the country should be rebuilt.

The Government will help the respective religious groups to reconstruct religious shrines in the very same location they were found before the tsunami disaster. At the same time all structures, buildings and hotels that could be renovated would be allowed to do so.

At a time when all concerned have joined hands with the government to rebuild the country and elevate the lives of the people, no one should get deceived by the false propaganda spread by those with vested interests.
