President Kumaratunga's visit to Iran significant to whole of Asia

Iranian President Mohammed Khatami said yesterday that Sri Lankan President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga's visit to Iran at the present juncture was of significance not only to the two countries but, also to Asia as a whole.

LTTE obduracy compels troops to honour MoU commitments

The Police and Security Forces in Mannar accompanied by Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission officials were reluctantly compelled to lower LTTE flags on Wednesday evening that were hoisted in the Mannar Town Hall premises and the Urban Council grounds despite repeated requests made to the LTTE to refrain from doing so, states a press release issued by military spokesman Brigadier R. M. D. Ratnayake.
