by Colvin L. de Silva Our London Correspondent The Annual Christmas Carol service by Christian Association Sri Lanka headed by President Charmaine Jayatillake are making preparations to hold their 18th Annual Christmas Carol Service at St. Philips Church in Kensington, West London on Sunday December 5. In an open invitation to their friends and supporters, the Association says that they look forward to the presence and participation in this sacred commemoration of one of the most important events of their Christian faith. Charmaine said that her Association has been extremely active and been in the forefront in reaching out and touching people through their charity work in the indigent sections of the Sri Lankan population for the last several years. The Cancer Hospital, Maharagama was chosen to be the venue for a Christmas Party and a Boxing Day Childrens' Party to the delight of the inmates of this hospital. They have helped the Friend-In-Need Society who are working in providing artificial limbs. The list goes on and recipients came from Colombo and the provinces , some of whom are little known to the outside world. We help each and every organisation who appeals to us for help, said Jayatillake. |
