You have given hope to many countries saddled with the menace of terrorism, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse said in a congratulatory message to US President George W. Bush on his re-election to the White House. The Prime Minister said: "I am indeed happy to hear of your victory in a very emphatic election. By being elected for the second term of the Presidency in the USA, you have established that some day honesty, dedication and commitment will overcome all obstacles. "You have created history throughout the world by standing firm on the cause of peace and eradicating terrorism. You have fought against this worldwide menace to make the world a better place to live for many generations to come. Having weathered a stormy first term, particularly with the September 11 tragedy and leading America towards a terrorism free environment, you have shown the world the way to go forward despite obstacles. "Please accept our heartiest congratulations on your emphatic victory. We are certain that the friendly relations between our two countries will continue to grow." |
