The need for a united effort to bring about peace by Romesh Samarakkody The Government of Sri Lanka and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam
have agreed to cease hostilities and negotiate a settlement to the ethnic
problem. The people of Sri Lanka are looking forward to having peace after
decades of war and unrest. But some of the political parties have not
shown signs of maturity and are not trying to solve the problem in a more
