Govt. committed to ensure release of two homeguards - Ratnasiri

World Buddhists laud President's appeal to the UN to call for due respect to Buddhist symbols

President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga came in for high praise among the leaders of Buddhist countries present at the 59th session of the UN General Assembly in New York for her appeal to the World Body to call for due respect for religious symbols and practices with particular reference to the exploitation of Buddhist symbols for commercial purposes.
