Poverty, rising inflation and interest rates await Pakistan's new PM

KARACHI, Monday (AFP)

Pakistan's new Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz faces a rough first year trying to meet the economic goals he set himself while serving as the country's finance minister, analysts predicted. The ex-banker and close of ally of President Pervez Musharraf who saved Pakistan from bankruptcy in the late 1990s and headed the finance portfolio for four years was sworn in as prime minister.
