COLOMBO, Aug. 24 (Lankapuvath) - Sri Lanka and the Middle East are to launch a new postal service for the benefit of Sri Lankan expatriates serving in the Gulf Region, a senior official of the Postal Department told Lankapuvath. An agreement to establish postal links between the Department of Posts and Telecommunications and the United Arab Emirates Postal Services was signed in Colombo recently. This will help to ease the difficulties faced by Sri Lankans living in the UAE in sending and receiving mail from Sri Lanka and the Emirates. The launching of the new postal service between the UAE and Sri Lanka was a result of an initiative taken by Minister of Posts and Telecommunication D. M. Jayaratne. The agreement was signed by Postmaster General K. A. S. Senadeera and the Director General of the Emirates Mail of the United Arab Emirates Abdullah Ebrahim Alabroose. |
