Most parts of the country are experiencing a severe drought now, with tanks and reservoirs drying up. The mighty Parakrama Samudraya in Polonnaruwa is no exception. International community provides drought relief

A discussion was held at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday, with a number of representatives from International organizations including embassy officials responding to a request made by President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga to provide immediate relief to the drought victims in the 16 districts comprising 16 per cent of the population in the country, a press release from the President's Office said.
