A Capital Market team headed by Palitha Silva Gunawardene, Director General of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka visited Jaffna from July 19 to 20 to promote the development of the Capital Market in the Jaffna peninsula.

Arrangements are under way to open a branch of the Colombo Stock Exchange in Jaffna by early September. This will be jointly funded by the SEC and the CSE.

The premises of the proposed branch of the Colombo Stock Exchange was inspected during the visit which is in the centre of the Jaffna commercial area.
