Profit taking at Bourse The Colombo Bourse experienced profit taking during the first part of trading yesterday and recovered with slight gains during the closing. The day's significant transaction was that 6,00,000 shares belonging to Aitken Spence changed hands at attractive prices. This contributed 34 % to the day's turnover. There was strong buying on SLT shares too. The market also experienced selective buying on shares mainly Vanik. Stock Brokers said that the market might see profit taking and bargain hunters would also move in to make the trading floor more active. The All Share Price Index increased to 1,442,55 points from 1,439.41 and the Milanka Price Index dipped to 2,172.77 points from 2,179.56. The day's turnover was Rs 516,316,796. SLT, ACME, Aitken Spence, Blue Diamonds and CF Venture Fund were heavily traded stocks. Domestic purchases were Rs 4,474 million and foreign purchases Rs 191 million. ACME,Vanik, Eastern Merchant, Blue Diamonds and Kotagala were the top five gainers. |
