Samarakoon issued an enjoining order yesterday (20) for the first time in Lankan legal history restraining Yalith Wijesundara from publishing and continuing to publish the article "Monks life in danger -Kotalawela behind the move" in the "Sinhala.net", Website for a fortnight. The Chairman and founder of the Ceylinco group of companies, Deshamanya Jivaka Lalith Bhupendra Kotalawela filed a petition before the District Court against Yalith Wijesundera of Isipatana Mawatha Colombo 5. The Plaintiff stated that Yalith Wijesundara is the author and the webmaster of Internet website known as "Sinhala.net" and the article published on that Internet site "Monks Life in Danger-Kotalawela is behind the move" defamatory of the plaintiff. The Plaintiff prayed for a permanent injunction restraining the Defendant from publishing and to continuing to publish the said article in the "Sinhala.net" Internet site or any other Internet site operated by the Defendant and enter judgement against the defendant in a sum of Rs 500 million with legal interest. Attorneys-at-Law Malin Rajapakse and Kuvera de Zoysa instructed by Miss Thushari Weerasinghe appeared for the plaintiff. |
