Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse looks up at the lights of Mihintale which he switched on to inaugurate the Mihintale Aloka Pooja last evening. The poson Aloka pooja, the Illumination of Mihintale, is being presented for the 42nd time by the Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Ltd (ANCL), in association with the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) from June 1 to 3. On the Prime Ministers right are the former Chief Minister of the North Central Province Berty Premalal Dissanayake and CEO of ANCL Tikiri Kobbekaduwa.

SLFP-JVP bonds further strengthened

The Sri Lanka Freedom Party and the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna during their discussions on Monday decided to convene the United People's Freedom Alliance Steering Committee once a week to sort out problems that may crop up within the Alliance parties and work out future strategies.
