| Uposathagaraya, an unique feature in the annals of Sri Rohana Sangha Sabha - Minister Piyasena Gamage by A. W. Gunawardhana - Matara Central Correspondent Sri Rohana Sangha Sabha constituted under the able guidance of Ven. Kamburupitiya, Vanarathana Nayaka Thera has by now reached a historic moment, Uposathagaraya built at Parai Duwa under the State patronage and under the direction of present Nayaka Thera is an unique feature to be added to the annals of Sri Rohana Maha Sangha Sabha, said the Skills Development, Vocational and Technical Education Minister Piyasena Gamage when he spoke on the occasion of presentation of letters of honours to twelve members, in recognition of the services rendered by them to the Sasana. This presentation was done parallel to the 13th Upasampada Ulela held at newly built Uposathagaraya. Minister Piyasena Gamage himself was presented with the Honorific title of "Sri Rohana Pradeepa Sasana Bandhu." Mahanayake of Sri Rohana Parshawaya of the Shyamopali Maha Nikaya the most Ven. Rajakeeya Panditha Attudawe Siri Rahula Nahimi presided. Chief Minister Southern Province H. G. Sirisena, Parliamentarians Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena, Mahinda Wijesekara, and several others were present on the occasion. Minister Piyasena Gamage further said, recently, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse has paid a visit to this Uposathagaraya. I can assure you he will see to the further needs for improvement of this sacred place. Receiving the honour of 'Sri Rohananabimanya Sasana Bandu", Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena, MP said, we had the fear of this 'Parai Duwa' being converted to a five star hotel, but due to the good fortune of the Buddhists, it did not happen. Present structure will continue to be an asset to the Sasana. Sri Rahula Sangha Sabhawa is full of erudite Bhikkhus serving the Buddha Sasana. Registrar of the Sri Rohana Sangha Sabha Professor Gatare Dharmapala Anu Nahimi, delivered the welcome speech. Recipients of Honours were introduced by the Ven. Sasthrapathi Omare Kasyapa Thera.
