Call to make Trinco Harbour productive
The Trincomalee Harbour is heavily under utilised and the employees
have called upon the government to come up with a plan to make the Harbour
productive. For the past two months only one commercial ship had anchored
in the port and this has resulted in a major loss of revenue to the port.
According to an official of the operations Unit revenue has dropped from
Rs. 374 million in 2001 to Rs. 230 million in 2002.
