by Ranil Wijayapala The Sri Lanka Army, following the allegations made by the LTTE over alleged military involvement in the killing of seven LTTE cadres in Batticaloa, yesterday decided to confine movements at eight entry and exit points during night hours, Defence sources said yesterday. Accordingly, the Security Forces will close eight entry points from 10 pm to 5 am with effect from yesterday for movements. The vehicles passing these checkpoints will also undergo strict checking, the sources added. These checkpoints were earlier opened for 24 hours and there were no restrictions for people's movements, the sources said. "People will only be allowed to cross these checkpoints on humanitarian grounds during the closed hours from 10 pm to 5 am", sources added. Padirippu, Mandur, Vavunateevu, Black Bridge, Kiran and Valachchenai are among the entry exit points which are to be closed from 10 pm to 5 am, the sources added. |
